Finally the much awaited moment for all the Airtel fans is here, they have given a green signal to their 3G services today, they have started 3G in some of the important circles including Bangalore. The Airtel 3G plans are at par with Tata Docomo 3G plans except that Tata Docomo has unlimited data plans where as Airtel has still not come with such a plan.   • Sachet plan 1 – Rs.9 for 10MB valid for 1 day. (Post 10MB, 30p/20KB)
  • Sachet plan 2 – Rs.60 for 65MB valid for 3 days. (Post 10MB, 30p/20KB)
  • Standard plan 1 – Rs.103 for 100MB valid for 30 days. (Post 10MB, 30p/20KB)
  • Standard plan 2 – Rs.200 for 250MB valid for 30 days. (Post 10MB, 30p/20KB)
  • Standard plan 3 – Rs.450 for 650MB valid for 30 days. (Post 10MB, 30p/20KB)
  • Standard plan 4 – Rs.750 for 2GB valid for 30 days. (Post 10MB, 30p/20KB)
  • Flexi-shield plan – Rs.675 for 1.25GB (After 1.25 GB 1p/100KB upto Rs.2000 after which unlimited FREE)
  • 3G value plan – Prepaid – Rs.13 for 20 days at 15p/20KB.
  • 3G value plan – Postpaid – Rs.20 for 30 days at 15p/20KB.
  • Pay-As-You-Go plan at 30p/20KB

  • 5p/sec for all local, STD & roaming networks.

All these plans are for prepaid customers except the flexi-shield plan & value plan. You don’t have to change your Airtel sim to use 3G , but you should just have a 3G enabled handset. To subscribe to one of these plans you have to send a message 3G to 121 or dial 12134. The speed Airtel claims is about 21Mbps , but again that depends on many factors like network load, simultaneous users using the network etc.

Here4mobile Verdict: The plans are not great but surely not the worst, some of the plans are good enough for normal users, but Airtel must come with some unlimited data plans if they want to attract more customers.
