Latest Trend in Telecom Industry – LTE
Feb 26th

As the technology advances with high speed even the telecom industry is advancing with a much higher speed. There was a time when we used to get dial up internet at 56Kbps speed using our fixed land telephone , but today the technology has advanced so much that we are able to get the download speed up to 100Mbps, which can roughly take 5-10 minutes to download a movie of size 700MB.
Untill the last couple of years most parts of the world was using wireless technologies like CDMA, GSM and other technologies like WAP, GPRS etc, but today there are newer technologies like LTE (Long Term Evolution), WiMax , Wi-Fi etc with much more advanced features like higher download and upload speeds, efficient usage of the bandwidth and lower cost of deployment.
These new standards use OFDMA, SC-FDMA technologies for multiple access which are more efficient with respect to bandwidth etc. These standards work efficiently on multicore DSP’s.
LTE is the latest trend in wireless industry, it supports all these features,
- Scalable bandwidths like 1.3Mhz, 5Mhz, 10Mhz, 15Mhz & 20Mhz.
- It uses OFDMA in downlink and SC-FDMA in uplink.
- Its capable of supporting a maximum download speed of 100Mbps & a upload speed of 50Mbps.
- It can be deployed in parallel with GSM which is one of its main plus point.
- It supports both FDD (Frequency division duplexing) and TDD (Time division duplexing).
- It supports data access up to a high speed about 350Kmph.
It is supposed to be deployed all over the world by the end of 2012.
T24 – A Tie up Between TTSL & Future
Feb 16th
A new tie up has been done between Tata Teleservices (TTSL) and the Future group for providing GSM service in India under the brand name T24. Here Future will be selling TTSL sim cards in retail outlest with the brand name T24. This is a second such deal by TTSL, it has already done such deal with the Virgin group that markets TTSL sim under the brand name T24.
The main thing to be noticed here as said by the Future Group CEO Kishore Biyani, that the customers will get shopping benefits each time they talk and talk time benefits each time they shop. So this is really a good news for Indian customers as all the retails chains like Big bazaar, pantaloons, future bazaar, e-zone etc come under the future group. So the customers can benefit both ways.
Lets hope for good offers from T24.
